Christian Kühnhold studied Industrial Engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt with a degree as Diploma Economic Engineer. After many years in leading positions in FMCG distribution as well as in the international automotive components industry, Christian Kühnhold became a co-partner in the management of PAKi Logistics GmbH in 2005. In this function he successfully developed the company into a European service provider. After the sale of Paki in 2012, he continued to play a key role as CEO and as a member of the board of the Faber Halbertsma Group in the restructuring and success of the pooling specialist until 2018. During this time, he helped to initiate and build up the business for quarter and half pallets with IPP Germany.
Since 2018 Christian Kühnhold has been Managing Director and shareholder of the smart City Loop GmbH, an innovative concept for the transport of goods on the “penultimate mile” in metropolitan areas. The Smart City Logistics concept has already won an award in the Federal Competition for Sustainable Logistics Concepts of the Federal Ministry for the Environment.
Since October 2018 Christian Kühnhold has been CEO of the European Pallet Association e.V. (EPAL), the largest quality assurance association for EPAL load carriers worldwide. With more than 600 million EPAL pallets and 20 million EPAL box pallets, the EPAL System represents the largest open and therefore most efficient load carrier pool worldwide, which makes an important contribution to sustainability in the supply chain due to its high level of reusability.
